Ruth Petrovna Deyneka Shalanko was born in the USA, Chicago, Illinois in
1928. Her parents were Peter and Vera Deyneka, born in Belarus, and were
founders of the Slavic Gospel Association.
Ruth Petrovna accepted the Lord in 1937 and was baptized in 1941. That
same year she dedicated her life to the Lord to be a missionary.
After graduating from a Christian University in 1950 she sailed for Europe
as a Russian missionary. She ministered among Slavic refugees in Germany,
France and Austria for almost 3 years.
She married Jacob Ivanovich Shalanko, a Russian missionary, in 1953. They
went to Quito, Ecuador in 1954. There they ministered at radio station
Golos And in the Russian language for almost 30 years.
Jacob Shalanko died in 1993. In 1994 Ruth Petrovna began ministry
journeys among Women and Orphans in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova:
21 trips. She has also participated in women’s seminars and youth
conferences in the USA.
